The Dow Lectureship for Research Excellence and Societal Impact was endowed by the Dow Chemical Company. This lecture series began in 2008 to highlight the critical role that materials play in advancing technologies that impact quality of life and outstanding societal challenges (e.g., energy and sustainability). It features speakers who have received outstanding recognition in our field, including many “luminaries”. Past lecturers have included Drs. Subra Suresh, Craig Barrett, Yet-Ming Chiang, John Cahn, Bill Nix, Ellen Williams, Joanna Aizenberg, Jennifer Lewis, and Harry Atwater.
