Prof. Chris Van de Walle named a 2020 Highly-Cited Researcher
Prof. Van de Walle among 6,167 researchers recognized worldwide
For the fourth year in a row and fifth year overall, Prof. Chris Van de Walle was named a Highly Cited Researcher, according to the annual list generated by Clarivate Analytics (formerly Thompson-Reuters). In 2020, 6,167 researchers worldwide were awarded this honor across all disciplines, fifteen of them from UCSB. Along with Prof. John Bowers and Nobel Prize winner Prof. Alan Heeger, Prof. Van de Walle was one of three recipients from the College of Engineering. To compile the list, Clarivate examined publications in the top 1% of citations per field and publication year between 2009 and 2019, according to the Web of Science. Prof. Van de Walle was cited more than 29,000 times in that range. Group alumnus Prof. Anderson Janotti was also recognized on this year's list.
